Reality TV-The Modern Gladiator Arena

We look at the gladiator games of Ancient Rome and we say, "Oh my, this is so bloody and sadistic. I'm glad we are more civilized now."
But, we are NOT! The human race, instead of growing more civilized and humane, has become more complicated in their sadistic pursuits. We 'entertain' ourselves by watching innocent men and women tear each other up emotionally and psychologically. I am talking about Reality TV
Is this not the same sadism that drove the Romans to create the Gladiator arenas? Aren't we enjoying these shows in the same way that the Romans enjoyed their brutal fights? Are we so addicted to the bloodless battles that these people fought that we ignore their humanity? Why do we enjoy the back-stabbing and silent wars that are fought between these contestants?
We have indeed become as demented as the Romans. The end of our society is near...

Reasons NOT to blog...

Yeah, that's right. This is MY top ten list of reasons NOT to blog (all 'cause I'm feeling random):
10) I don't like the colour, so I want to stop blogging
9) I like reading about other people's problems, NOT my own
8) I am emo and sensitive, people will only laugh at me if they read my blog. *emo look*
7) I like disturbing others. BUT, I don't like them disturbing me.
6) There is a possibility that I might get a nasty comment, and I don't know how to delete it!!
5) I might accidentally make myself look bad
4) I might accidentally insult someone
3) I'm scared that I might get carried away and say something that looks like ****
2) My parents can watch my every step online
1) I'm just too lazy!!!

Well, this list is just a random piece of randomness... so, yeah, I'm still going to blog

Chinese (brother) water torture.......?

Recently, I was at the mamak with my family and another family. I was fortunate (or so I thought) enough to sit under the fan that blew out water droplets. After the meal, true to form, both families started talking. Halfway through a sentence, I felt a droplet of water hit my lips... Then, another droplet hit my hand. I moved a few feet away from the suspected fan, but the water droplets kept coming every few seconds. By now, my brother and my friends were laughing so helplessly that I suspected someting amiss. Keeping an eye on my brother and his fidgety hands, I noticed that everytime he played with his cup of "teh ais", a droplet of liquid would hit me moments later. Soon, I caught him in the act. He was flicking the remains of his "teh ais" on me via his straw... Sigh. Naturally, I took away his cup and continued talking random stuff when, ugh, another droplet of water hit me... I looked at my hand, my brother's cup was still there. I looked at my brother. To my horror, he took my friend's cup of "teh ais" and was shooting the remnants at me AGAIN....

Paroimia

Just yesterday, I went to watch Paroimia. It was GREAT!!! The storyline was simple, but captivating. The music was intricate, exciting, and enjoyable. The dances were very well executed and the dancers were well coordinated. The dancers and actors showed great finesse in their act.
To everyone that reades this email, Paroimia is a MUST SEE.

Music Exams....

Music exams...
The feelings start the night before. Your stomach suddenly starts fluttering when you remember that the next day is THE DAY. Then, you go through the rest of the night rather numbed. Finally, you go to sleep. You feel like you need sleep, but you just can't. You toss and turn, roll and fidget. Finally, you doze off.
The next morning, you wake up and are blissfully unaware for the first five to ten minutes. Then, as your mind gets more alert, reality hits you like a bucket of ice water in your face. THE DAY HAS COME!
The day passes slowly as you contemplate your upcoming performance.
The time comes to go into the hotel where you will perform for a TRAINED professional in music.
Will I be too nervous? Will I make a mistake that ruins my piece? Will my instrument have techinical problems?
One by one, these questions run through you mind. One by one, you mentally answer them and try to reassure yourself. Soon, you run out of questions and time. The time comes when it is time for you to enter the examination room. Your heart is beating a mixture of excitement and apprehesion. The door opens, you greet the examiner and get a greeting that is friendly, but not very reassuring.
The exam passes as blur in your head. You answer each question and play your pieces, scales, and arppegios mechanically. Finally, you are free to exit the room. The moment you pass the door, a wave of mixed reactions hit you. You feel relieved that you have finished the exam, you feel satisfied that you have done your best, BUT, you feel nervous. The nervousness comes from wondering if you did well enough. Sure, you did your best, but was it good enough?? This question irks you for the first few minutes. But, your results arrive only in three to four months. Over the next few hours, your trepidation is replaced by overwhelming relief and joy. Your face is a picture of contentment. The exam is OVER

Easter

WOW... Easter... this is one word that means a lot but is usually taken for granted or distorted to symbolise eggs, or worse, bunnies.
Have you ever wondered, is there more to easter than great church plays or stirring speakers??
Have you ever wondered, Jesus DIED a PAINFUL death for ME??
Have you wondered, am I still so precious to God after all I have done that he sent Jesus to die??
Often,as Christians, Good Friday and Easter have both become rituals that have numbed us to the actual meaning of Christ's sacrifice. It is important NOT to let these two dates just become just days in our calendar that we can forget. Without the true meaning of these days, the entire basis of our faith is nullified.
